I am back...

So I took quite a long break from blogging, but today I am returning with a couple of projects I have completed over the last couple of weeks.

The first is an adorable t-shirt that I whipped up for the little guy. I used a pocket t-shirt (removed the pocket) and then appliqued the chick on with heat n' bond. The words are fabric "puff paint". I am very happy with how this turned out!

 Next is the bow tie I made our little man for Easter Sunday. I used the tutorial found HERE. It was super quick and easy. And he actually wore it all morning without a complaint!

 Isn't he so handsome!

 And last, I whipped up this skirt for myself for Easter Sunday after having no success finding one to buy. Very happy with my decision. (sorry for the awkward photo of yours truly, I am probably the least photogenic person I know!)

Here is the back of my skirt. Kelli does not really show what the back of hers looks like. So this is what I came up with.

 I folded over the top edge of my skirt piece a half inch before gathering it.
Before running a gathering stitch on my machine I sewed in a casing for a piece of elastic. (see photo) I then followed the directions for sewing on the waistband and tie belt. I made the casing of my elastic as long as the gap between the two sides of the waistband.
